OkCupid

OkCupid is an online dating page that analyses users' answers to questions to find matching partners. The mutual match score of two users is the geometric average of how well the first user's answers match the second user's preferences and how well the second user's answers match the first user's preferences. If users have few questions in common, their match score is lowballed.

Performance

OkCupid uses a lot of client-side JavaScript code. This makes the page slow in cases where any of bandwith, memory or processing power are not matching the somewhat high expectations of the OkCupid developers. Opening a single tab of OkCupid can slow a personal computer noticeably; opening a dozen tabs of OkCupid is likely to hang a browser for a while. Blocking the following hosts solves this problem:

  • 1-instant.okcupid.com
  • 2-instant.okcupid.com
  • ads.okcimg.com
